Chernobyl and V for Vendetta official for 4K, plus new Zavvi Ultra HD Steelbooks, a possible Psycho 4K audio problem & more
HBO has just officially announced the 4K Ultra HD release of their Chernobyl miniseries on 12/1. The 5-episode series was finished natively in 4K and will include the Blu-ray and Digital copies as well (SRP $44.98). High Dynamic Range will presumably be HDR10.
Extras will include 5 featurettes (Meet the Key Players, Inside the Episode, Behind the Curtain: Director Johan Renck, Script to Screen: The Divers, and Pivotal Moment: The Trial).
Best Buy will also have an exclusive Steelbook version of the set. You can see the wide-release cover artwork pictured at left and also below.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has finally announced V for Vendetta for release on 4K Ultra HD on 11/3.
This should be no surprise to Bits readers, as we’ve been talking about this disc for weeks now. [Read on here...]

20th Century Fox to deliver an Alien: 40th Anniversary on Blu-ray & 4K Ultra HD in April
All right, we’re going to have a larger post with a big release news update later this afternoon, but I wanted to chime in quickly with this...
For months now, we’ve been saying that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment was planning to promote the 40th anniversary of director Ridley Scott’s original Alien (1979). This was based on our sources within the industry.
Well... now we have the first word from retailers.
UK disc retailer Zavvi has just listed a 2-disc Alien: 40th Anniversary Edition for release on 4K Ultra HD on 4/1/2019 (or 1, April as you guys would say across the pond).
There are no other details yet available. We expect that the US release date will be somewhat different, but certainly within a week or two. The official announcement is likely due very soon and we’ve already asked the studio about this.
In the meantime, you can see temp UK cover artwork above left. Keep in mind, it’s subject to change – this is just the temporary artwork the studio has given to retailers.
Thanks to an overseas friend and Bits reader for alerting me to this.
Back later with a much larger post and more news. Stay tuned...

Disney is finally bringing Netflix’s Daredevil to Blu-ray (at least in the U.K. but probably the U.S. too)!

All right, we’ve only got one thing for you today, as we close out the week and kick off the long Fourth of July holiday weekend here in the States. But it’s a good one, especially for you Marvel fans.
It looks like Disney is finally getting ready to release the Netflix original series Daredevil on Blu-ray and DVD (£25.99 and £19.99). Daredevil: The Complete First Season is currently set for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/3... in the U.K. at least. [Read on here…]

Here at The Bits this afternoon, I’ve just turned in a new regular Blu-ray review of Disney’s The Finest Hours, which streets next Tuesday (5/24). It’s a better film that I expected, even if it’s still pretty standard for Disney live-action dramatic fare, but the disc itself is rather bare extras-wise. Anyway, do give it a look. [Read on here…]
